MY HOOP LEGACY

Frequently asked questions

Everything worth knowing before you start playing.

Is it actually free?
Yes, genuinely. The whole game is free in your browser and on mobile — no paywalled modes, no energy timers that lock you out. There are optional purchases and ads that keep the lights on, and you can remove ads with the Legend Pass if you'd rather, but you never have to spend a cent to play everything.
Do I have to download anything?
Nope. It runs right in your browser, and you can add it to your home screen so it behaves like a normal app. Native iOS and Android versions are on the way too.
Do I need an account?
Not to play. Make a free account if you want your saves to sync across devices and to show up on the online leaderboards — otherwise your careers save locally and you're good to go.
What are the three modes?
Three separate games: Career (be the player and build a legacy), GM (run a franchise's front office), and Coach (recruit and lead a college program). Same simulation engine underneath, three totally different experiences on top.
Can I actually play the games, or is it all simulation?
Both, your call. On game day you can jump onto a 3D court and play it out yourself, or sim the result and focus on managing your team. You can mix and match season to season.
How do the daily leaderboards work?
Every day there's a Performance of the Day board and a rotating single-game stat board, plus a rolling 30-day GOAT ladder that tracks who's been the best over the last month. Play a game, post a score, climb. It resets daily so there's always a fresh shot at the top.
Will I lose my progress?
Careers save locally in separate slots, and with a free account they sync to the cloud so you can pick up on any device. Clearing your browser data without an account is the one way to lose a local save, so if a career matters to you, make the account.
Is this an official NBA game?
No — it's an independent game made by one person, and it isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the NBA or any league. It's built for the love of the sport.
Who made this?
One developer, working mostly nights and weekends, shipping updates most weeks. If you hit a bug or have an idea, the support page actually reaches me.
How long does a season take?
It depends entirely on how you play it. Simming games takes a few seconds each, so a full season is comfortably an evening. Playing games out on the 3D court takes roughly ten to fifteen minutes apiece. Most people play the games that matter and sim the rest, which lands a season somewhere around an hour or two.
Why am I stuck on the bench?
Almost always because your build is too balanced. Minutes are decided by what you are best at, not by your average, so a player who is good at everything loses out to a specialist. Push two signature skills as high as your archetype allows, and add one skill that keeps you on the floor in close games. The builds guide walks through it properly.
Do the text conversations actually change anything?
Yes, and more than most people expect. Replies move relationships with coaches and teammates, start and settle rivalries, open or close trade conversations, and colour contract talks. Two players with identical stat lines can end up with very different careers based on nothing but how they answered their phone.
Can I play as a real NBA player or a real team?
No. The world has its own leagues, franchises, and players, with a record book that builds up as you play. Community roster packs let players share their own creations if you want something closer to a league you recognise.
What happens when my player retires?
The career gets written into that world's permanent record book. Later saves in the same world can run into your retired player as a legend, a mentor reaching out to a young prospect, or simply a record somebody else is now chasing.
Does the game work offline?
Mostly. Once it has loaded, playing and simming work without a connection. Cloud sync, leaderboards, and multiplayer need you online, and anything you did offline syncs the next time you connect with an account.
Is there multiplayer?
There is. Alongside the single-player modes you can play live game rooms against other people, and the daily leaderboards put your single-player results up against everybody else's.
What is the Legend Pass?
A one-time optional purchase that removes ads, adds save slots, and grants Training Points. It is not required for any mode or any content - every part of the game is playable without it.

Still curious? Just play it.
